What’s The Story?

So…couldn’t get my band onto the main The Great Escape, I phoned and phoned and phoned, didn’t get through to anyone. 

Asked for help from other managers & MMF, not much they could do and were equally frustrated. (JW is annoyed so little could be done)

Started contacting TGE to get band onto B lists and stand by for when other bands pull out.

Started checking around last year’s Alternative Escape venues to see if they had slots available for my band to play; They all seemed to ask the same “What kind of night I wanted to put on?”….. “No, I want to put a band on your night. What have YOU got !?!”

Lots of venues seemed to be getting involved with ALT GE but over the last 3 weeks several have seemed to pull out or can’t do anything now. (Licensing issues, don’t want to get PA in, Ice Hockey match on TV, don’t want the hassle) 

So we need to put on our own night, put the bands forward and get them heard - other comments from industry agents, managers, promoters this year seem to voice concern / annoyance that all the bands playing are already buzz bands, with labels, with industry already behind them… Where did all the new bands go. Is there no longer support for bands that need to get noticed?

Solution… Go against everyone else! While venues are pulling down & promoters turn back, we’ll charge on ahead in the opposite direction to everyone else and put on our own show. Like going against the tide [insert relevant concerned industry quote “sea of change, sun setting on my industry companies i.e. labels, distributors, old form of music business] we’re going to keep pushing… pushing against the tide…push the tide back out to sea!!
